Question 1

Can I search by the meal I want to cook?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is the fastest way to shop here. Amara, the assistant built into HarvestNearU, reads what you type. Tell her what you are making - jollof rice, egusi soup, pepper soup, a Sunday stew - and the search works out which produce that needs and shows what nearby farms have today. It reads plain descriptions too: "something for breakfast", "leafy vegetables", "I need pepper and onions". You do not have to know how a farm has spelled or categorised a listing, and it understands Nigerian names for produce, so ugu, ugwu and pumpkin leaves all find the same thing.

Question 2

What if I do not know what the produce is called?

Accepted Answer

Describe it and Amara will work it out. She expands what you type into the produce it means, says what she searched for, and you can still narrow by category, distance or farm afterwards. If no farm nearby has it today, you are told that plainly rather than shown an empty page, and you can follow a farm to hear when it lists again.

Question 3

Do I need an account to place an order?

Accepted Answer

You can browse produce without signing in, but you must create an account or sign in before checkout. Both consumer and farmer accounts can purchase produce and access My orders.

Question 4

How do I place an order?

Accepted Answer

Open Shop produce, add the quantities you need to your basket, choose free farm pickup, doorstep delivery, or Arrange with farmer, and continue to payment. Doorstep delivery is priced by each farm - its own rate per kilometre for its distance to you, with any minimum it sets - and the basket shows the cost farm by farm, which you confirm before paying. Doorstep delivery is only offered when every farm in the basket can reach your saved location. Your order will appear in My orders after it is submitted.

Question 5

What is the service fee on my order?

Accepted Answer

A percentage of your order total - produce and any delivery charge together - added for operating the marketplace and processing your payment. Your basket shows the rate and the amount it comes to before you pay, and it appears again on your receipt. If you use a farm's promo code, it is worked out on the discounted total. It is not passed to the farm: the farm is paid for its produce and for any delivery it drives.

Question 6

How are nearby harvests ranked?

Accepted Answer

Active produce is shown without a default category or distance filter and is ranked by proximity when you choose Nearest first. Distance is measured by road from your saved location to the farm, so a farm shows its kilometres and a driving time, or a walking time when it is close. If the road measure is briefly unavailable, the straight-line distance is used instead. Shop, Farms and a produce's own page use the same measure, so a farm shows the same distance everywhere.

Question 7

How is produce availability confirmed?

Accepted Answer

Farmers publish quantities and harvest dates from their workspace, and confirm that their stock is still right. A confirmation holds for two days for produce that spoils - vegetables, fruit, leafy greens, peppers, eggs, dairy, meat, poultry, fish, herbs and mushrooms - and for seven days for produce that keeps, such as grains, tubers, legumes, nuts, oils, honey, crayfish and seedlings. A listing confirmed within that time shows Stock confirmed and can be bought straight away. Optional Available from and Available until dates restrict a listing only when both are supplied. Stock is reserved during checkout, reduced when orders are created, and marked out of stock when exhausted.

Question 8

Why does some produce say the farm confirms stock before I pay?

Accepted Answer

That listing has not been confirmed by the farm recently, so the farm checks it still has it before you are charged. Your order becomes a request: the produce is held for you and nothing is taken from your card. The farm has three hours to confirm or to say what it cannot supply. Once it confirms you have two hours to pay, and anything it could not supply comes off first. If the farm does not answer, the request closes and you pay nothing. A basket from several farms waits until every farm has answered, then you pay once.

Question 9

How do I keep my listings on sale as a farmer?

Accepted Answer

Tap Confirm all stock in your workspace whenever your stock is still right - one tap confirms every listing on your farm, so they all stay current together. Changing a quantity or accepting an order also counts. Your workspace shows when you last confirmed and, for each listing, until when it sells straight away. We remind you a few hours before a confirmation runs out. After two days for produce that spoils, or seven days for produce that keeps, buyers can still order but each order becomes a request you have three hours to confirm. If a listing goes twice that long without a confirmation it is paused until you confirm it again, and an unanswered request pauses your listings too.

Question 10

Can I view a farm before ordering?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select the farm name on any produce card, or open Farms to browse every verified farm. A storefront shows the address, verified buyer ratings and feedback, current produce, what is sold out, and related recommendations. Routed directions are not published there - they come with the order once you have paid, on the order card, together with the farm’s phone number.

Question 11

I chose farm pickup. How do I find the farm?

Accepted Answer

Each product on your order card carries what you need to collect it as soon as the order is paid: the farm’s address under its name, and a row of buttons for directions, its phone number, its page and a message to agree a time. Directions and the number step aside once the farm records the handover, because by then the trip is done and what is left is to confirm the produce.

Question 12

Can I order the same things again?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Any completed order has an Order this again button. The basket is rebuilt from what that farm still has today, so anything sold out, withdrawn, out of season, or from a farm whose verification has lapsed is named and explained rather than quietly missing at checkout. Short stock is added at whatever is available.

Question 13

Can I follow a farm?

Accepted Answer

Yes, once you are signed in - from any farm page without having bought from it, or from the card of any order that farm delivered. Following tells you whenever that farm lists something new. It is different from a restock alert, which watches one listing and fires once.

Question 14

Can I order produce from more than one farm?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A basket can contain produce from multiple farms. Each order keeps the farm and item breakdown, while delivery or pickup availability is shown before payment.

Question 15

Where do I collect a pickup order?

Accepted Answer

From the farm itself. Farm pickup is free wherever a farm offers it, and whether it is offered is shown in your basket before you pay. Once the order is paid, the farm’s address, directions and phone number appear on the order so you can agree a time with the farm.

Question 16

How do payments work?

Accepted Answer

A secure hosted payment page is the primary option. When administrators enable manual bank transfer, checkout displays the company account details and accepts a JPG, PNG, WebP, or PDF receipt. Manual-payment orders remain pending until an administrator verifies the receipt.

Question 17

Can I pay with my account credit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Available account credit is applied during checkout. If it covers the full order, no bank transfer or receipt is required. You can see your current balance in the account menu and on your profile.

Question 18

Can I share a farm or a particular produce with someone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tap Share on any produce - in the produce preview, on the produce's own page, or on the produce screen in the app - or Share this farm on the farm's page. On a phone your phone's own share options open; on a computer you can send it by WhatsApp or copy the link. The person you send it to sees the produce's photo and price, and the link opens that produce's own page, where they can add it to their basket or look at the farm. If they have the HarvestNearU app on Android, it opens there instead. If the produce has sold out since, the page says so and shows what else the farm has.

Question 19

Does every produce have its own page?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open a produce on a farm's page and choose Produce page, or open a produce link someone shared with you. It shows the photo, price, whether it is available now, when it was harvested, and whether you can collect it from the farm or have it delivered, with Add to basket, Share, a link to the farm and more from the same farm. If the farm has stopped selling it, the page tells you rather than disappearing.

Question 20

Why can't I choose doorstep delivery?

Accepted Answer

Doorstep delivery is priced on the distance from the farm to you, so it needs your exact location - and the farm's. In the app, open your saved location and tap Use my exact location, allowing Precise location if your phone asks. A typed address is fine for browsing and farm pickup, which is always available. If a farm has not confirmed its own exact location yet, delivery from that farm is not offered until it does.

Question 21

How do promo codes work?

Accepted Answer

Some farms give out promo codes - on their farm page, at the market, on WhatsApp or to their regulars. Type the code into Promo code in your basket, on the website or in the app, while signed in. The basket shows what it takes off before you pay. A code belongs to one farm and only takes money off that farm's produce or its delivery, and you can use one code per order. Some codes need a minimum spend, cover only certain produce, give free doorstep delivery, can be used once per customer, or run only until a date or a number of uses - if a code cannot be used, the basket tells you why. We check the code again when you pay, so a code that has just run out or been paused by the farm comes off and you see the new total before paying. If you cancel the order, the code can be used again.

Question 22

How does the referral programme work?

Accepted Answer

Share your invite code and you earn account credit when somebody who signs up with it completes their first qualifying order. You are paid when their order completes, not when they sign up, and the order has to reach a minimum in produce - delivery and the service fee do not count towards it. Your invite screen shows the current amounts and the minimum, and it tells you when a referral is still waiting on that first order. The credit is spent here like any other account credit.

Question 23

Where do I find my invite code, and where does my friend enter it?

Accepted Answer

On the website it is the Invite a neighbour panel on My profile, with your code, a WhatsApp button and a button that copies your invite link. In the app it is Invite a neighbour in the account menu. Whoever you send it to usually never types anything: tapping the link opens the app with the code already in the signup form, or opens the site with it carried through to the form there, and it works for Google sign-up too, where there is no code box to type into. The code is written out in the message as well, so it can still be entered by hand in the Referral code box at signup if a link is forwarded as plain text.

Question 24

Why has my referral not been credited yet?

Accepted Answer

Almost always because the person you invited has not completed a qualifying order yet. Your invite screen shows them as waiting on a first order until they do. A code also cannot be used by somebody who already has an account, cannot be your own, and cannot be added after signup - it has to be entered or carried in at the moment the account is created. If your friend already had the app installed and opened the Play Store listing rather than the link you sent, the code is not carried across and they would have needed to type it.

Question 25

Can I cancel an order after submitting payment?

Accepted Answer

You can cancel an order that is still awaiting payment. If nothing was paid, it is simply released and nothing is charged. If you have already submitted a payment that is not yet confirmed, choose full account credit, which is free, or a bank refund, which carries a ₦500 processing charge and is reviewed by an administrator. That charge never applies when the fault is ours or the farm’s.

Question 26

What happens if a farm cannot supply my order?

Accepted Answer

Each farm has to accept a paid order - within three hours in the day, or by 10am for an order paid overnight. If it says it cannot supply something, or does not answer in time, that part is cancelled and refunded to your account credit straight away: the produce, its share of the service fee, and the delivery charge if nothing at all is coming from that farm. The rest of your order carries on. If you would rather have the money in your bank, open the order and choose Send to my bank within 30 days - there is no charge, because the farm was at fault.

Question 27

How do I track and confirm receipt of an order?

Accepted Answer

Open My orders to follow every product separately, and it updates itself while you watch. Confirm each product only after you have it and have checked it. A farm can also record that it handed a product over, which completes nothing on its own: you then have 24 hours to confirm it or report a problem, and if you do neither we treat it as received and the order completes. If something is wrong, report it from the order rather than confirming - confirming completes the product and lets the farm be paid. A report gives the farm a chance to put it right, and reaches us if you cannot agree.

Question 28

How do farm ratings work?

Accepted Answer

After confirming an individual product, you will be invited to rate the farm that supplied it. You can give one to five stars, add a comment, and update the rating later from the completed order.

Question 29

Can a consumer account become a farmer account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open your profile and choose Become a farmer. Your existing orders, saved produce, and customer history remain on the account while you add farm information for verification.

Question 30

How many pictures can a listing have?

Accepted Answer

Up to five. The first is the cover customers see on every card; the rest show on the produce's own page. Add several at once, remove one, or choose Make cover on another in the listing form or editor.

Question 31

Can a farmer manage more than one farm?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Farmers can add multiple farms, switch the active farm in the workspace and profile, and manage separate verification, listings, orders, delivery settings, and earnings for each farm.

Question 32

How do farmer payouts work?

Accepted Answer

Configure a payout account separately for each farm; it is confirmed against the bank and is part of that farm’s verification. Earnings become payable once a product is completed - by the customer confirming it, or automatically 24 hours after the farm records a handover that nobody disputes. The money then waits six hours - the time a customer has to report a problem - before it can move, and card payments are held until they clear at 8am the next business day. Eligible net earnings appear in the farm workspace, and nothing is sent until the farmer requests a payout; requests at or below ₦50,000 are transferred automatically and larger ones are released by an administrator. A payout is withheld while any linked order has an open refund, an unresolved ticket, or a handover the customer has reported. Payouts start at ₦2,000, because a bank transfer costs the same whatever it carries; below that the workspace says how much more is needed, and nothing is lost by waiting.

Question 33

How long do I have to accept an order?

Accepted Answer

Three hours for an order paid between 7am and 7pm, and until 10am the next morning for one paid overnight. The deadline is on the order in your workspace, and we remind you before it passes. Tap Accept, or Can't supply on anything you do not have - the customer is refunded for those at once. If you do neither, the order is cancelled, the customer refunded and your listings paused until you switch them back on. Whenever something is cancelled because the farm could not supply it, the fee the payment provider kept on that money comes off your next payout, and so does the bank transfer fee if the customer moves that refund to their bank. Keeping your stock figures right is the way to avoid it.

Question 34

What is deducted from what I earn?

Accepted Answer

One platform fee on the produce in each order, at your farm’s band rate - 9% to start, 8% once your farm has sold ₦100,000 of produce here in thirty days, 7% above ₦500,000. There is no minimum and no cap, and nothing else is taken from the produce. Doorstep delivery is paid to you in full: the 5% service charge that used to come off it was retired, and buyers now pay a service fee on their own order total instead. If you run a promo code, the discount comes off your earnings on those orders and the fee is worked out on the discounted price. Your financial statement shows the rate charged on every order.

Question 35

Can I print what my farm earned over a period?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Payouts in the farmer workspace opens a financial statement for any dates you choose, listing every paid order with its sale, fee, rate, delivery and net, then what is completed, already paid out, awaiting payout, and still in progress. It prints, and the period is in the address so you can bookmark or send it. A payout receipt answers what was in one transfer; this answers what the farm earned in a month.

Question 36

Why do I need to confirm my email before ordering?

Accepted Answer

Your receipts, payment links and any refund notice are sent to your email, so we check the address is yours before your first order. Your basket shows a Confirm your email card: tap Send code, then enter the 6-digit code we email you. You can browse and fill your basket before confirming.

Question 37

How do I report a problem and follow the response?

Accepted Answer

Sign in and open the Help Centre, then create a support ticket with the category, order number, affected item, and a clear description. You can read staff replies and continue the conversation from your ticket history. Support may ask you to email supporting photographs. We decide each product you reported: if it is refunded, the money goes to your account credit straight away, with its share of the service fee, and you can send it to your bank from the order within 30 days at no charge.

Question 38

What happens to my farm when a customer reports a problem?

Accepted Answer

We look at each product reported and decide whose fault it was, and you are told the decision and the reason. If your produce was at fault, the customer is refunded and your share of it - what you earned on that produce, plus the delivery if that is refunded too - comes off your next payout. If the fault was ours or the customer's, your earnings are not touched. Other farms on the same order are never affected by a decision about yours. If the customer moves a refund your farm caused to their bank, the bank transfer fee - ₦10.75 to ₦53.75 depending on the amount - also comes off your next payout.

Question 39

How do I run an offer?

Accepted Answer

Open Promotions in your farm workspace on the website, or Workspace > Promotions in the app, and choose New offer. Pick a code buyers will type (3 to 20 letters, numbers or dashes, such as HARVEST10), a short headline, and the offer: a percentage off (1 to 90%), an amount off in naira, or free doorstep delivery. You can add start and end dates, a minimum spend, a limit on total uses, once per customer, and choose all your produce or particular listings. Show it on your farm page, or keep it private and give the code only to the people you choose. Your farm pays for the offer: the discount comes off what you earn on those orders, and the HarvestNearU fee is worked out on the discounted price, so you are not charged a fee on money you did not receive. You can pause, resume or end an offer at any time; ending is final, and orders already placed keep their discount. An offer cannot be changed once created - end it and make a new one. Your farm must be verified to run offers.

Question 40

How do I delete a listing I no longer sell?

Accepted Answer

On the website, open the listing in your workspace (Edit harvest) and choose Delete listing; in the app, open it in the Workspace inventory editor and choose Delete listing. It disappears from the shop, your farm page and your workspace straight away. Orders already placed for it carry on, and its sales stay on your statements. It cannot be brought back - to sell it again, add it as a new listing. If you only want to stop selling it for a while, pause it instead.

Question 41

How do I set my doorstep delivery price?

Accepted Answer

Open Doorstep delivery in your farm workspace, on the website or in the app, and enter your rate per kilometre (₦0 to ₦5,000) and, if you want one, a minimum charge per trip (up to ₦20,000). Customers are charged your rate for the distance by road from your farm to them, never less than your minimum, and you keep the whole delivery charge. You have to set a rate before you can turn doorstep delivery on.

Question 42

Why did my doorstep delivery turn off, or why can't I turn it on?

Accepted Answer

Doorstep delivery needs your own price. Farms that were already delivering were asked to set theirs by 30 October, and delivery is switched off for any that have not, so customers see farm pickup instead. Open Doorstep delivery in your workspace, enter your rate per kilometre, and turn delivery back on. Nothing else about your farm has changed.

Question 43

Should I collect money from the customer when I deliver?

Accepted Answer

No, never. A paid order says so on its card: Do not collect money from the customer. They have already paid HarvestNearU online, by bank transfer or with account credit, and you are paid through your payouts. The order card also shows what you will receive and whether it has been paid out.

Question 44

How do notifications and email preferences work?

Accepted Answer

The notification bell shows payment, payout, order, delivery, farm verification, rating, support, and harvest updates. The mobile app can also play a sound for actionable push notifications. Choose optional email categories on your profile; essential security, payment, refund, and active-order messages are always sent. Opening an update marks it as read, and reviewed notifications are cleaned up after you have had time to read them.

Question 45

How can I suggest an improvement to HarvestNearU?

Accepted Answer

Use Product feedback in the Help Centre to rate your experience, select the affected area, and describe what worked or should improve. The feedback enters the support team's review queue and remains visible in your history.
